Good News Garage

Last fall, when I heard that Trinity was going to be involved with sponsoring a family of seven from Afghanistan, I started to keep my eye open for a minivan for them. As I have learned from the GNG Ministry, God lets us know when the time is right to involve us in His plan.

I received a call from a man in Mt. Prospect who had heard of us at his church and wanted to give us his minivan. It looked great and had a long history of being serviced. I thought it would be perfect for the Moradi family. When it arrived at Trinity, we did our regular inspection, and thought it was good to go.

Unfortunately, it developed an engine coolant leak that required major repairs.

So once again, we were looking for a van, asking what to do. We had already promised a minivan to the Moradi family but there were none to be had.

However, God had everything in hand. Ten years ago, a man had passed away. His wife could not part with his minivan and kept it as an extra vehicle to be used by her daughters. The time came at last when she was ready to dispose of the minivan. She contacted me in March of 2020 to donate it to Good News Garage. But then came the lockdown and we closed the garage.

Fast forward 335 days, the lady with the minivan calls and asks if I still needed the van? She had saved it for us.

So, I took a ride to Hawthorn Woods to find a 2000 Chrysler Town and Country van with 78,000 miles, garage kept, no rust, with all maintenance records.

The day after we gave the van to Mr. Moradi, I called him to ask how he was doing with his new vehicle, he said his wife and kids LOVE it, it was just what they needed to get around (to and from work, school, grocery shopping, and doctor visits).

He thanked Trinity many times for his van.
