Growing in Faith and Community

In addition to weekly worship, Trinity offers many opportunities for adults and children to grow in faith and fellowship. Adults gather to study the Bible, discuss current events and issues, hear presentations by noted theologians, and see and discuss movies from the prospective of our faith. Lunches, dinners and evening worship in Advent and Lent, family nights, September-Fest and the October Blessing of Pets are for everyone. Mon's and Women's Groups meet monthly for learning and service. Junior and Senior High School Youth Groups, choirs, and children's music and activity groups gather on Wednesdays from September through June.

Caring for One Another

Trinity's pastoral staff and lay ministries provide support through life's challenges. Stephen Ministry, grief support, and compassionate listening are offered by our congregation. Professional counseling and support services are available in conjunction with and through Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI).

Child, Youth and Family Ministries

In addition to Sunday School, children participate in choir and activity groups on Wednesdays. Junior and Senior High ministries offer an exciting environment in which to learn about the Lutheran faith and to grow in relationship with other Christians, both young and old. Weekly Confirmation Classes, regular Senior High hang-out time, mission trips and special events like laser tag, lock outs, movies and bowling make our ministry to teenagers fun and inviting.

Making a Joyful Noise

The Lutheran Church has a long and rich tradition of celebrating with music. At Trinity, our worship features both old and new songs of worship and praise. Our music program includes choirs, handbell ensembles, soloists, cantors and instrumentalists. It offers many opportunities for all ages and abilities to join in making a joyful noise to the Lord.

Making a Difference

God has blessed us in many ways. By serving others, we give God thanks for those blessings.

Trinity is active in numerous programs that benefit the community, the nation, and the world. Several are in conjunction with area social service agencies, other churches, LSSI, and the national and international initiatives of the ELCA. Through these programs we work to increase awareness of and help alleviate problems such as homelessness, hunger, and social injustice. They include participation in and support of activities such as:
  • PADS which shelters and feeds the homeless
  • Meals on Wheels for the homebound
  • Caring Tree which provides Christmas gifts to children in the HeadStart program, children in the Intact Recovery Program, and residents of a local nursing home. These programs are run through the LSSI
  • American Cancer Society's Relay For Life
  • CROP Walk
  • Disaster relief assistance through the ELCA
  • Advocacy awareness information and alerts
  • Just Neighbors to help local residents in need
