Programs & Ministries
The programs and ministries at Trinity offer opportunities for spiritual growth, for service to our community and world, and for fellowship.
Many are in cooperation with Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI), the national and international ministries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), other area churches, local agencies, and community programs. They are open to all.
We invite you to join us
Making a Difference
God has blessed us in many ways. By serving others, we give God thanks for those blessings.
Trinity is active in numerous programs that benefit the community, the nation, and the world. Several are in conjunction with area social service agencies, other churches, LSSI, and the national and international initiatives of the ELCA. Through these programs we work to increase awareness of and help alleviate problems such as homelessness, hunger, and social injustice. They include participation in and support of activities such as:
- PADS which shelters and feeds the homeless
- Meals on Wheels for the homebound
- Caring Tree which provides Christmas gifts to children in the HeadStart program, children in the Intact Recovery Program, and residents of a local nursing home. These programs are all run through LSSI
- American Cancer Society's Relay For Life
- Disaster relief assistance through the ELCA
- Advocacy awareness information and alerts
- Just Neighbors to help local residents in need
- Salvation Army Bell Ringers
WELCA
(Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America)
As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ,
and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts and
support one another in our calling.
WELCA includes all women who belong to TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH. Members are
involved in activities through Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI), and they also support
activities of the church and synod. Please JOIN one of our circles. It is a great way to make new
friends.
- NAOMI CIRCLE: will meet on Monday, September 8, at 1:00 p.m. at Church.
- REBECCA CIRCLE: will meet on Tuesday, September 9, at 1:00 p.m. at the home of

- NEW WOMEN’S CIRCLE: A new woman’s group for younger women has formed at Trinity.
This group includes women from a diverse range of ages, 22 to 45. We will have our third
meeting on Sunday, September 7 at 9:15 a.m. in the Library. Childcare will be provided. If you
have any questions, please speak with Pastor Leslie.
ALTAR GUILD: We are looking for some younger volunteers to help out. If you are one
who would like to work for the Church, but, doesn’t have a lot of time to give, this ministry
might just be for you. Training will be provided to all new volunteers. It is a great way to get
involved, serve our God in a very special and sacred way, besides getting to know a group of
dedicated ladies. If you are interested in helping out in this ministry, contact Dolores Townsend
or Beverly Johnson at 847-827-6656.
